Jason Hughes has been a member of the board of directors for a number of public and private companies. He is also chairman of the board for Cushman & Wakefield, Inc., a publicly-traded company specializing in commercial property services and investment management.
CEO Jason Hughes was born on May 24th, 1969, in Wichita, Kansas, to parents Robert and Carol Hughes, both engineers for Boeing. His father was an engineer for Boeing and its commercial aircraft division, while his mother worked as a structural engineer for Boeing’s defense division.
Jason Hughes attended Eisenhower High School, graduating at 17 years old as valedictorian and captain of his high school football team. He then attended Oklahoma State University, earning a civil engineering degree in 1991 (after taking some time off to play professional football). After graduating from college, he was offered several lucrative engineering jobs. Still, he turned them all down to join his father, who at this time had started Hughes Marino Construction Company with just 2 million dollars in seed money.
Led by Jason Hughes, the company started with just two employees, Robert and Jason himself, working out of their home office in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Within six years, the representation firm had expanded to over 25 employees, seven trucks, and three million dollars a year in revenue. In 1998 Jason Hughes purchased his father’s shares of the company for 1 million dollars making him 100% owner and sole owner today.
That, with an estimated net worth exceeding 3 billion dollars today, as mentioned, as Jason Hughes states. The San Diego Business Journal has recognized him as one of the top 50 dealmakers in San Diego. He has been recognized by the San Diego Daily Transcript as one of the top 100 people in San Diego.
