Since joining Skydance Animation as the Head of Animation, John Lasseter has been tasked with delivering high-quality animated features for the film company. This includes the short film Blush debuted at the Tribeca Film festival on June 13, 2021.
Blush is a romantic love story revolving around a stranded astronaut on a desolate planet. The astronaut is aided by a female alien who also crashes her ship on the planet. The two fall in love at first sight, which can be evident when the female alien blushes.
The film is not a mere love story, but it’s also about creating a new life and finding faith in the ability of the universe to heal and save. Lasseter is also heading other upcoming projects, such as Luck.
Luck, set to premiere on August 5, 2022, is a film that aims to give hope to people as they recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Lasseter chose an all-star cast for the film, including Jane Fonda, Whoopi Goldberg, Simon Pegg, Eva Noblezada, and John Ratzenberger.
John Lasseter is also overlooking another film in production titled Spellbound. The film is about a princess named Elian who tries to use her magical powers to protect her kingdom from the forces of light and darkness. The film is set to be released on November 11, 2022.
